Secondary Educator

Below are examples of lessons I've used with my students in a variety of settings.  Note the use of
educational and assistive technology while maintaining student-centered and rigorous instruction.

Lord of the Flies
10th grade co-taught English class, Union-Endicott High School
Studying Lord of the Flies with older adolescents lends itself to a discussion of themes of good and evil and the nature of humankind.  Technology aids and enriches this unit, as it includes teacher-created podcasts and culminates with student creation of videos tracking the development of a theme.  Opportunities to discuss artistic intent abound when comparing the book to the 1963 movie.  View some behind-the scenes unit and lesson planning here:
