Lord of the Flies
10th grade co-taught English class, Union-Endicott High School
Studying Lord of the Flies with older adolescents lends itself to a discussion of themes of good and evil and the nature of humankind. Technology aids and enriches this unit, as it includes teacher-created podcasts and culminates with student creation of videos tracking the development of a theme. Opportunities to discuss artistic intent abound when comparing the book to the 1963 movie. View some behind-the scenes unit and lesson planning here:- teacher-created podcast of chapter 9
